January Update.
Thanks to everyone for their contribution and ideas for the Coedbach Road entrance to the Park. As with all things to do with the Park because it is a public place there are always health and safety issues to contend with. However, the Parks department has stepped forward to give us assistance and thanks to the Pontarddulais Partnership who are putting up the money to pay for the materials plus a small contribution from the Friends, the old fence will be taken down and a new fence put up and work is expected to start this week. Once the fence is in place then the Friends will be planting some shrubs and flowers on the Park side as it is going to be a fence similar to what's around the tennis courts.
Thank you for all your offers to help.
Thank you for all your offers to help.
Also in the next couple of weeks with the help of the lads from the Parks department and their digger drainage pipes will be going in to take the standing water away from outside the children's play area where it makes quite a big puddle. Those of us who walk the area know this only to well and redirect it to the seasonal ponds area. The Friends will be paying for the pipes and chippings and we are able to do this thanks to the kindness of Elwyn the Pet Shop's family who gave us a donation in his memory.
The Friends have also received from the Conservation Volunteers Organisation http://www.tcv.org.uk/community/i-dig-trees 100 bare root trees approximately 2.' 6" high with bamboo stakes and rabbit/strimmer guards and the Our Place Team have volunteered to plant these, thank go to this team for the great work they've been doing topping up the woodchip paths. They are destined for the area that has been cleared of Knotweed, as you can never have too many trees because they help stop soil erosion, help with air pollution as well as being great habitats for birds and insects.

January 2017
The FOCBP would like to give a 'HUGE THANK YOU!' to Noaked Bakers based in Pontarddulais for their very kind donation to our group over the Christmas period.
The money raised will help us keep looking after the park.
The Coed Bach Park entrance on Coed Bach Rd has seen better days and is now looking tired and neglected.
We are looking for help/ideas and funding to take on this project and if you have any ideas on what you would like to see done here please contact us on the email at the top of this blog page.

December 2016
It is nearly the end of another year and as usual around about this time the FOCBP have placed tags with personal messages on the Friendship Tree in the heart of the second woods.
As usual we thank our resident artist Gaynor Fuge for her efforts in creating these tags as group members know it is time consuming, and Gaynor has a lot of her own projects to work on so I am sure you would also like to join with us and say a huge 'THANK YOU GAYNOR' for all your efforts to bring so much comfort and happiness to people at this time of year.
2016 has been a huge year for the park and with so much we could say, I fear that I could be writing this blog for several more days!!!
So instead I have taken the easy way out and posted images from our other Social Media sites showing how wonderful Coed Bach has become in 2016.
(A big Thank You to everybody that have shared their images with us over the last year.)
Members of the FOCBP would like to wish all park users a Merry Christmas and a Happy Prosperous New Year.
In the meantime you can click the tabs at the top of this blog to take you to our Facebook and Twitter feeds to keep up with the news.

October Update
It has been a little while since we last updated this blog so here is the news from the last few months.
The Friends of Coed bach Park calendar have arrived. They will be available from CANOLFAN Y BONT 28 Dulais Road, Pontarddulais to buy now at £5 each with proceeds going towards the park.
As usual we thank Gaynor Fuge for her efforts in putting the Calendar together and this years look absolutely amazing (Even though we are biased.) Thank you Gaynor from us all at FOCBP.
The Seasonal pond is looking a little overgrown so several intrepid members of our group have jumped into their waders and made a start to do a controlled clearance of the pond. There is a lot to do so the job will be continued over the next few weeks.
Recently we held another fascinating walk with Teifion our Fungi expert and once again we found another interesting haul of goodies in the park.
We were delighted to see more young people join the group and they enjoyed a little walk around the park learning about the life that inhabits the area.
On October the 11th Christine Thomas was invited to have a cuppa with the current Mayor of Swansea and a local Councillor Beverly Hopkins! What a lovely surprise as we didn't know why we'd been called for a meeting but he personally thanked Chris for being the driving force behind the park and wanted to learn more about the person and the work you help her accomplish. A big thank you to everyone who's been involved in the process so far, because without you the park wouldn't be the same. We have a lovely community in the park and we should be proud of the amazing work we do together. From the people who bin rubbish who isn't theirs, to the friendly hello's, to the clearing the brambles, answering our surveys and attending the meetings. All your time and effort is paying off.
The Our Place Team based at the Canolfan y Bont continue to work through all weathers in the park. They are constantly topping up the wood chip on the pathways and over the last few weeks have been busy on the BMX track.
Several youths have stopped off for a chat with team members and have given the team great feedback on what they are looking for with the lumps and bumps and jumps, the team have put in. So we would like to Thank them for their help as it helps everyone understand better what it is the youngsters of Pontarddulais would like to see in the park and it also involves them in decision making for the future.
Radio Wales recently visited the park to speak to volunteers about the work being carried out in the area.
The show is available for 30 days and the interview starts 25 mins into the programme.
As usual the park is busy with people using the park on a day to day basis and a real community has come to life over the last few years of regular people (and dogs) who use the park. It is also great to see members of the public stopping and having a chat with everyone working within the park and acknowledging the efforts of people in helping keep the park in tip top condition.
Thank you all for taking the time and showing some members the patience and respect they deserve and everyone hopes to see you all again very soon.

Recently over 10,000 Crocus bulbs have been planted in the park by FOCBP members with assistance from Pontarddulais Juniors Football Team and other members of the public.
Thank you all for your assistance and we should see the park explode with colour next year.
