Football Container

Over the last few days FOTP and Geraint Thomas a coach for the Pontarddulais FC juniors have been in discussion over what colour to paint the white container at the side of the football changing rooms.
A professional painter has now been found and hopefully he will start work within the next 2 weeks.

Friday 27th January News

Today Gareth Davies a Community Development Officer  and Helen Grey a Countryside Connections Officer came to the park to meet us and to discuss us putting in for a grant  for the Ecology Survey which needs to be done before we can start work tidying up the old Boating Lake.
Five members of FOTP turned up to meet them and to guide them around the park.

As FOTP members we showed them the lie of the land and what our long term plans for the park and woodland areas were. And we are pleased to say that we have their support and will be working very closely with them in the future, as there is a lot of GRANT money out there and they can help guide us in the right direction to obtain some.

                              WILDLIFE NEWS

While on our walk around the park we noticed that 2 mallard ducks have made the lake their home which is great news and we also observed that a blue tit was using one of the newly installed bird boxes by the swings. Unfortunately we could not obtain any images of these events as my camera lens was not long enough for me to keep a good distance from them and not disturb the birds.

Pointing out the park boundaries.

Saturday 21st January Workday

Our 1st workday of the year was disrupted by the unpredictable weather, so only 4 of us (including our regular photographer) turned up to move some of the leave mulch from the rugby club car park to the area at the bottom of the football field where we have planted a line of trees.
There will be another unofficial session tomorrow just to remove some of the piles of rubble around the trees (Sunday 22nd From 10am again weather permitting.)
We will be meeting by the entrance to the bowls green if you would care to lend a hand for an hour or so.

Martin proudly shows off his 1st load (see he has got his hands dirty......AT LAST!)

But struggled to move it 2 meters (He should stick to photography :-)

Please do not remove the logs as they are reused in the park and are the property of Swansea City Council

The 1st of the Bird boxes is places on the trees.
We would like to thank the lads (Owen and Jimmy) for their efforts as this is a very physically demanding job.
If you see them around the park feel free to offer them some carbohydrates, I am sure they would appreciate it :-)  as they need to keep their energy levels up.
